Last night, I fell asleep in about 3 seconds, very full and very exhausted from a day full of cooking and entertaining. Anyone else as tired as I am?! But, I was so pleased that my very first Thanksgiving dinner cooked entirely by myself came out perfectly. Phew! The turkey was moist with a crispy skin. The gravy was thick and deep brown. The stuffing, dressing, vegetables, and potatoes were all divine. I forgot to put my made-the-day-before Cranberry Sauce on the table until 3/4 of the way through the meal, but otherwise it was a success!

I was so happy that I spent the past few years especially, paying close attention to my mom in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day. Even though it was my first Thanksgiving ever away from my parents, I was happy to have risen to the challenge of carrying on our family Thanksgiving dinner recipes and traditions. I really enjoyed hearing what our friends were thankful for this year and watching them dig in after I practically collapsed in my chair out of nerves and cooking exhaustion. Hehe!

While the women seem to flock to the kitchen on Thanksgiving Day, it is the men that seem to revel in the Thanksgiving leftovers recipes. My dad traditionally makes his phenomenal and oh-so-good-for-you Homemade Turkey Noodle Soup. Guys love this crazy delicious sandwich concotion: Royal Turkey Sandwich. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and try a couple of these recipes for using up those leftovers.

Congratulations on a wonderful Thanksgiving meal! Sometimes I think leftovers are the best part…Adri and I are on the same page-I made mashed potato (with cheddar and bacon) croquettes and turkey stew (including the leftover greenbeans) with biscuits…I hate throwing out food!
Thanks Laney! Mashed potato croquettes with cheese and bacon..oh my!! I will have to try that next time I make mashed potatoes in the next month or so. Thanks!
Gorgeous table and I love the idea of the turkey noodle soup for leftovers! What a wonderful post!
Thanks Alessandra! Yes, the noodle soup is really flavorful and healthy for you!
What a beautiful table! I bet you had a wonderful meal. Leftovers, are as Emilie says, what it is all about.. In our home it’s either sandwiches or Turkey Pot Pies. We also enjoy mashed potato patties ad wild rice soup!
Thanks AdriBarr, it was a great Thanksgiving! I never thought of turkey pot pies! Those sounds mouth-watering right about now!
Oh yes… it’s all about the leftovers! I remember one year we actually didn’t have any leftovers. We were all stumped! But with the little meat we had (on the carcass) we made quesadillas with cranberry sauce, ham + brie. They were a huge hit! Thankfully, this year we had lots of leftovers, and we just found ourselves eating them in the exact same fashion as the big day- reheated with lots of gravy! Yum! 🙂
Thanks Emilie! Your quesadilla with cran sauce recipe sounds divine! We ate Thanksgiving dinner 3x in our house too.
